The origin of persimmon is Japan and China where they were being cultivated since VIII century. It was introduced into Spain at the end of the XIX century. Although it is cultivated in many parts of Spain now, the best is found in RIBERA DEL JUCAR in Valencia with origin domination.
The variety has a bright red colour.
Persimmon is an excellent vitamin A (55%)and vitamin C (21%) provider with minor quantities of potassium, magnesium and calcium in combination with phosphorus and sodium. It contains substances which are beneficial to our health in general and to our vision and metabolism in particular.
